Areas of dense freezing fog will impact travel across the Spokane-
Coeur D Alene Area impacting Interstate 90 and US95 from Coeur D
ALene toward Sandpoint. At 330 AM...cameras and surface
observations were showing visibilities down to a 1/4 mile in
spots. Additionally, the fog could be creating slick roadways with
temperatures well below freezing. Motorists should be prepared for
slower travel times, use low beams, and drive with caution.

Snow showers ahead of the Friday morning commute coincident with
temperatures dropping to near or below freezing will result in
slippery travel conditions. Light amounts but bigger impacts to
travel.

* WHAT...Snow showers expected. Snow accumulations up to 4 inches at
elevations above 3000 feet. For the Idaho Panhandle, up to 2
inches for locations below 3000 feet. For Spokane County, up to 1
inch for locations below 3000 feet. Flash freezing of roads will
be a concern early Friday morning.

* WHERE...Fourth Of July Pass, Davenport, Dobson Pass, Priest River,
Rockford, Schweitzer Mountain Road, Hayden, Eastport, Lookout
Pass, Kellogg, St. Maries, Post Falls, Mullan, Fairfield, Downtown
Spokane, Airway Heights, Cheney, Bonners Ferry, Spokane Valley,
Coeur d'Alene, Fernwood, Wallace, Pinehurst, Worley, Sandpoint,
Athol, Clark Fork, and Osburn.

* WHEN...Until noon PST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The winter driving
conditions will impact the Friday morning commute.

An Air Quality Alert has been issued by the following agencies:

Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency
Washington Department of Ecology in Spokane
Washington Department of Ecology in Yakima

The Washington Department of Ecology has announced an Air Quality Alert
for all of Okanogan, Ferry, Stevens, Pend Oreille, Lincoln, Spokane,
Adams, and Whitman counties from 4 pm Wednesday May 17 through 10 AM
Saturday May 20, due to expected wildfire smoke from Canada.

Particulate matter (PM2.5) levels may reach Unhealthy for Sensitive
Groups levels.

Health Impacts and Recommended Actions:

When air quality is Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups, sensitive
persons may experience health effects and should limit prolonged or
heavy exertion and limit time spent outdoors.

When air quality is Unhealthy, everyone should limit their time outdoors,
and people with asthma, respiratory infections, diabetes, lung or heart
disease should stay indoors.
